I did some grading on the driveway this afternoon and then took a short ride. When I got home I wanted to check the plugs to see how they were burning. When I pulled #2 I noticed that it was blowing oil out and around it,not much but it still should not be doing this. It was tight before removing it. Any ideas thanks Larrys8n

I have had this problem and fixed it.Used a nice thick coating of anti-seize (conductive) and watched that I did not OVER tighten it. Whatever it is, it seems to be #2. I wonder if there could be a relation between cyl #2 and the rating of an 'N-gine'. Just seems like #2 is the weak one. I have had 1 burnt valve, #2E. And it seems others have #2 problems more than #1,3 or 4. Am I nuts?? No let me rephrase that....
Is this a HOT cylinder or am I off base?

Rasputen, Based on limited experience with these engines, one complete tear down and rebuild. I would not suspect the #2 cylinder to be the "hot" one but rather the #4 - due to it being "more remote" from the water pump and return line to the rad. It also seemed to me that more "gunk = stuff settling to the bottom" occurred around the base of #4 - so I inferred "less coolant flow" at this location.

Don't know of any other issues which would cause #2 to "always" be the problem.

Not to take issue with your comments on #2 being the hottest, it just occurred to me that maybe ????? ? it is the coolest. --- 8N is over-radiatored.
--- the return outlet in the head is just above the #2.
--- coolant systems without thermostat (sp) don't come up to proper operating temp

Just some thoughts, Jim

Yep..that makes more sense. Actually #4 would be hotter. I used the wrong word, meant the most degraded.
Just wondering aloud.

Larry..... .not uncommon for ceramic seal of sparkplug to crack and leak, just a bad sparkie, replace 'em all. Your favorite brand and hot heat range. Check gap (0.025) before installation..... .Dell

Maybe the spark plug was missing the gasket before you torqued it in. Just a thought.
