Painting 4020 Block

I am replacing the head gasket on a 4020. The block is missing a lot of paint (the other side is much worse), I would like to paint it to improve it's appearance. The block is still in the tractor, there is no plan to remove it.
I plan to wirebrush the block leaving whatever paint wishes to continue to stick. I will clean off all the oils and then prime and paint. I plan to use JD primer and then overcoat with JD green, all from spray cans.
My question is, will this adequately adhere to the block? Any comment?
Another thought would be to coat with that Rustoleum paint that bonds with the rust and then prime and paint it. Again, any comment?
Attached is a picture of the block.

I just touched up a 4020 of mine. NO primer, just a couple of light coats of JD paint. Looks pretty good.

John Deeres own spray paint turns a bluish color after it is exposed to very much sunlight. I'm talking about the rattle can paint. If it isn't possible for you to mix some and spray it on with a paint gun, you could brush paint the engine block and it will last better than than the spray can stuff. I know this because I worked at a deere plant for 33 years and I saw stuff that was touched up with their rattle can paint, after it sat outside for awhile. I don't think the spray can paint has as much pigment in it!

I think I would buy a quart of John Deere Green paint and brush it on. It will cover very good and the brush marks will flow out and disappear.

Why prime and then need to cover that.
Deere did not prime I don't believe.
Key is get it clean not the primer or paint.

you need to use too much paint/coats on bare metal with no primer to get it to look decent especially rattle cans good and clean primer and paint 2 coats should look much better than it does now
