trip to scrap yard

I went to the scrap yard earlier this week.

I saw several nice Case tractors. Most look to be complete with good tin. Someone must have hauled in a entire collection of Case tractors.

I saw a 830,930 with cab,1030.
2 LA's
2 L's one with cast centers
1 really nice CC on full steel
1 foot clutch SC
1 DC4
1 DI
3 DC-3's

I saw several more complete tractors of different colors. I'll never understand why people throw away complete tractors.
 
Where?? people who scrap those kinds of tractors should have case drive chains fastend around their feet stood in old gear oil and fire started. Not being judgemental, just saying . I know I should say what I am really thinking!!!
 
Where is this? Will the yard sell them whole to individuals? I know of a good running 930CK DOM w/ cab that got chopped up for China 2 years ago. Same old crap, pay my price, or it gets scrapped, where "I will take hundreds less".
 
It's in nebraska. I was told the owner just opened a salvage yard in another town. I'm wondering if the tractors won't be headed there.

I walked around the 54 SC. it was complete with all lights,tool box and top link. Even had a coffee can on the exhaust.
 
I will never understand why people throw away complete tractors either. I know some family on my wifes side who did the same thing with good complete Allis Chalmers collection that got crushed & it made me sick to hear this. At least our local scrap guy will set them along the road for sale instead of crushing them. At least he knows he can get more for the parts than for scrap. Maybe its the almighty dollar & no respect for our past.
 
Talked to a guy yesterday who is only a few miles from me. His grandfather was a case dealer for many years. When he pasted about 15 years ago a couple of his sons demanded that his building full of NOS parts be hauled to the scrap yard immediately as they wanted their money quick. Makes me sick to think about it. They even scrapped the neon Case sign.
 
Some of these very people who want to scrap a good machine will then turn around and pay big prices for antique furniture, or other "collectibles" without making any connection that said machine is also "collectible". Just proves there is no cure for STUPID.
 
Reminds me of some sayings like---Beauty is in the eye of the beholder----One mans treasure is another mans junk.

Maybe some widow resented the tractors because her husband spent money on old tractors and deprived her of things she wanted. Ditto for kids deprived of their wants because money was spent on "junk" tractors.

Years ago when I moved to my present location a neighbor had a collection of what I considered pure junk. For health reasons he needed to move so he advertised to have a sale. My thought was no one will come to his sale. WRONG. A big crowd showed up and bought every thing such as old glass jars, broken leather parts of horse harnesses, junk, junk junk.

Then there is the hassle factor. Years ago before the Internet and digital camera, I had a good 205 JD cornhead that I no longer had any use for. I walked around it in the barn for several years and then parked it outside along the tree line where it became an eyesore to me. Finally, I hauled it to the junk yard knowing someone somewhere would like to have it. It would have been too much hassle on my part to find that someone.
 
I hear those sentiments ,, and know stupid people who feel that way ,those same type of sheeple are the reason we are stuk with the current prez , i just try to stay away from them ,, because they bring me down ,,,but there is getting to be so many loud lazy selfish obnoxious people who can put a price on anything and a value on nothing

It is real simple some around here won't pay scrap prices for running tractors. I watched over 100 tractors at auction last fall that did not make much over scrap price with good rubber and new batteries. Some even good paint. Demand has decreased so bad for the old common tractors. Have a CC that is going to fall victim to salvage this week simply because nobody wants to pay a fair price. Economics and simplistic

Sure. We are getting ready to remove the tires, carb, mag and gas tank to prepare for scrap yard. Should weigh out at 3500 lbs.. $200 ton. Now we wanted $1,000 complete and running. Made pretty cheap tires and components.
 
Let's see why these old tractors end up in scrap yards. The aforementioned CC is the most original complete CC I have ever seen. I have offered the complete tractor for as little as $1,000. I have my first tractor in the shed needing a CC gas tank that I value at $100, The hot Case mag at $75, New front tires and tubes at $150, Fair Rear tires with over 60% tread at $450, carb $50 and real scrap price for remainder is $350. That brings the total to $1175. So, I have offered the entire running tractor for $1,000 and no takers or scrap it for $1175 or more with the money in my pocket very quickly. Yes it is the almighty dollar. Dollars to help my disabled sister, support my children and church.
 
really where is the tractor location may kill the deal but if close I wouls pay your price please call 812 699 0011 as I will be away from computer today and tomorrow Thank you bill wilson When figured your way it makes sense. You know in thinking about the scrap thing if all sellers would take ten percent over scrap like you plus fair price for carb tires and mag the whole tractor collector thing would save a lot of vintage iron. Why could we old farts set a presicidence here. sellers get fair price buyers get fair deal. Ten percent over scrap or not bi -ch about tractors going to scrap. Of course good runner field ready would not fit this .
