fast drying primer

i took advantage of the warm weather over the past week to paint some implements and other small projects. went down to the farm store for some standard tractor paint and primer and they were out of regular primer but had some fast drying super premium acrylic based primer. it was all they had so i decided to go for it....huge mistake

it dried so fast it was drying in the paint cup in my gun...ended up gumming up the entire inside of my spray gun

any body have this happen before??

The best thing to do is to stay out of farm stores and buy quality products. PPG epoxy primer can be topcoated in 30 minutes (at 70 degrees) and it can be used for several hours after it is mixed. But, you need to clean your gun no longer than a few minutes after painting regardless of what you use.
 
I had featherfill do that years ago. Started to set up right after i filled the gun. What a mess. Take your gun apart and soak it in aircraft stripper to get it clean.
 
i usually don't spring for ppg for an implement just can't afford it for those jobs.

took me about an hour to clean out my gun of all the gummed up primer
