Case running gear

I was at my parents house last weekend and saw something it
hadn't seen before. It was a Case running gear. I thought I had
inventoried all of dad's Case stuff, but I guess I missed one (it
was upside down in the weeds though). It appears to have
brakes. Was this factory or something added on later? Dad said
it was like that when grandpa bought it at an auction years ago,
but they never used them.

Thanks,
Dan B

In some ways it resembles a Case VWTA-S gear, but there are a lot of decrepancys also.
The only reference to Case building a wagon with breaks is the G20, built for Anhydros tanks.
As stated, think someone welded in a diff spindles with brakes on them
Loren.

I found this picture in a parts manual. Maybe the metal plates on the frame are the remnants of the spring bolsters? What are the differences between a VW, VWT, VWTA and a VT? Is a VWTA-S just newer? I have a VWTA-S. I agree that it is not exactly the same as this one. My VWTA-S has a tag on it, but I couldn"t find a tag on this one.

Thanks,
Dan B
