I need to change the fuel lift pump mounted on the side of the Bosch inline injector pump. When I remove the lift pump, I am afraid that the lube oil in the injector pump may drain out. Where do you put oil in these bosch injector pumps. Also, what type of oil and how much do I put in?

Yes, oil and some fuel should come out when replacing the feed pump. Oil fill is the 10MM allen round plug on top of front governor housing. Oil level plug is at lower 4 bolt cover at rear of governor. Best to overfill and wait as oil must seep through rear cam bearing to get into pump. After about 10 minutes then remove the level plug to drain out excess if you like. Will not hurt to run overfull as the drain tube on back of pump will drip if too full. Use the same oil in pump that engine uses is fine.

Thanks Dieseltech. I thought the plug on top may be the fill location but was not sure. I remember there was a 4 bolt cover on the left side of the pump down near the bottom. Is that the one you are referring to? Do I have to remove the 4 bolts and cover to check fill?

The level plug is threaded into the 4 bolt cover at lower rear of governor. The 4 bolts do not have to come off. After adding oil, wait a bit and remove the plug. Oil should come out if overfull. Let it drain excess out and replace the plug. Overfull will not hurt either.
