What is the purpose of the restriction in the fitting at the bottom of the oil filter can? Does this affect the oil pressure? Does this line carry all the oil being pumped from the pump? Also would like to know what brand and number others are using for oil filters.I cannot seem to find anybody able to get me a sock type filter.

Yes restriction so more oil goes to the engine.What goes through the filter goes back to the pan.I had the same problem finding a filter,ended up useing a filter with rubber seal on each end.I think it was a filter for a moline BF.

I am using a WIX 51001 which has the rubber seals around the center pipe. It is about 1 1/2" short of the top of the canister. All my tractors are used for show and parades so I don't think a smaller filter would hurt.Thanks for your reply.
