JD 7000 corn planting rates

I have a JD 7000 6 row planter finger pick up. I would like to plant around 34000 seeds per acre what sprocket combination should I use?The manual tells for 32000 & 35600 but nothing in between.

I don't have the book with me for exact numbers, but you can use sprockets from the fertilizer drive to get different sizes.

The 26 tooth drive should give you something around there, but what's a thousand seeds at that population????

Set it for 35,600. Not every kernel grows to a mature stalk so you will end up right where you want to be....give or take 5 or 6 kernels.

When the corn is 18 inches tall, count your stand and you will see what I mean.

The reason no setting in between is listed is because with the sprockets normally supplied with the planter new, there would be none to set it for anything but what is listed.

I am not saying you can"t go buy more sprockets to do what you want to do but the sprockets sent with it would not allow it.

Using a 13 driver and 10 driven calculates to 34,250. Halfway between 13/9 and 13/11. 10 tooth part number is A24960. (all numbers for cast /coarse tooth sprockets. Double the tooth counts for steel /fine tooth sprockets.) Steel 20 tooth part number is AA26800.
Actual seed planted may be different due to variables such as tire pressure, traction, etc. Only way to be sure is run it on hard ground or in the field and see what comes out.

There is one thing you need to keep in mind when deciding what seeding rate you want on these planters. The rates are figured allowing somewhere around 10% wheel slippage (such as you would encounter in worked dirt). If you are no-tilling you will not have that much slippage on the drive wheels so your seeding rate will be heavier. Mike

i have a 6 row jd 7000 also, my seed guy figured that with my type of ground and being no-till he want me to plant at a rate of 28,600 plant per acre, and when i set the planter up i went to the next highest setting knowing that there would be some loss. so it sounds like you could do the same and be some what close.
