New Idea spreader wood treatment

Have a New Idea spreader (probably 40 years old)in good condition, always stored inside. Would like to spray something on the wood inside the box to help preserve it.
Any suggestions?

Used oil.

Olympic stain makes a really good waterproofing deck stain that soaks into the wood. Lowes or Home Depot.

Used oil, it is a good way to use up the oil and works as good as anything you can buy. Just be sure the wood is dry when you apply it. Best to do it in the summer the warmer the batter.

If the spreader is 40 years old and in good shape, I don"t
think it needs anything, what rots them out quick is not
washing after use, then leaving it outside, in the sun, and
weather. Tompson wood sealer good product.

Clean it up and on a real hot day soak it down with drain oil. Thats what I do works good. Jim

I leave my old ground-drive I-H speader outside year round. I dump about a gallon of used oil on the wood bed and apron chain a couple times a year. I'm thinking the spreader is about sixty years old. I have had it about 15 years and have had no problems with it.
