Can someone tell me the correct way to set up the hitch on a little genius plow to pull behind a 37 John Deere A I have the plow manual but it only shows diagrams for older Farmalls. The plow is a two bottom with 14" shares. Thanks for your time, Mark.
 
First set your plow draw bar (center) 23",s from the furrow wall, after you have made a short test furrow. Now set your tractor draw bar the same demention from the inside of your right rear tractor wheel, wheel will probably have to be moved in. When you make your first pass , check to see that your front coulter is cutting just 14",s from the furrow wall.You can change that by shorting or lengthening the plow hitch draw bar brace.From the back of the plow, your right hand lever sets your leveling and the other your depth ,if no hyd. cylinder is being used, meaning ground lift plow.Your coulters should be set 3/8s to 1/2" to the left of you points and coulter axel 2",s ahead of the points , if your bolt holes allow this to be done. Have fun.
 
Sorry, to clarify set your tractor right rear wheel 23",s from you tractor draw bar being (centered) on the tractor. , Sorry for the miss explanation, i goofed up. I knew what i wanted to say, just did not come out that way..

Hey Ron- THANKS!!! That manual was just what I've been looking for for some time.
 
Why would the setup be any different for a JD vs. an IH?

All it should be is distance from the inside of the tractor's right rear wheel to the drawbar, and distance from the inside of the plow furrow wheel to the center of the plow. A few inches either way won't really make much difference.
 
Difference is the Ih is probably a wide tread in that the wheela are permantly set in the cultivating position for 2 40" rows or 80" wheel tread, more if the tractor has the 28" rubber on and can not be narrowed down like the Deere to about a 56" wheel tread.
