Installing an end "section-and-a-half" on the end of the knife is a very good idea.

It will help eliminate any grass clogs at the outer shoe.
You will need to remove the knife hold-down clip on the end of the cutter bar.

Remove the old knife section.

Remove the outer shoe and shims.

Install the rivets or nuts and screws on the end section.

Replace the outer shoe and shims.

There are three sizes of shims: .007, .020, and .030.
Suggest using a couple of the .020 and .030 shims as necessary.
Use lock nuts on the plow bolts that secure the outer shoe.
Be sure to check the clearance on the stripper and new end section.
