Vermeer 504I

I have a 504 Super I with hydraulic tie. I replaced one of the long density springs cause the bales are coming out soft. I'm using a john Deere 3020 running in 3rd gear to bale. I don't have the pressure gauge on my baler,it didn't come with it. How do I adjust it to tighten up the bales. I also just replaced my belts 100 bales ago. Any information will help.

if you dont have the books that come with the roller you can contact vermeer they will send you one im sorry but my books are about five miles away right now but its in the adjustment of the springs if i remember right.
i also have a 504 super i it makes a pretty good roll the only problem i have is getting the roll to start sometimes

The Key to making a good tight bale of hay with any round baler is to have a large uniform windrow. You must also run your tractor's engine at the proper speed to equal 540 RPM's on the PTO. If you have smaller windrows fill the corners of the baler and do not dwell long feeding hay into the center of the bale.
