830 COM pto cluch

I am looking for some posible causes for why my pto will not hold adjustment.
I have tightened the pto cluch twice now the first time I was going to use it on a corn picker and it wouldn't even turn anything over I had used it to unload a few silage wagons before and it seamed to work fine.
I adjusted the cluch so it took pleanty of preasure to engauge with the lever.
The next time I was able to use the tractor was hauling manure, I got half way unloaded and disengauged the pto to turn around and when I went to engage it again it was lose and wouldn't run the spreader.
I adjusted the pto again thinking maby the adjusting pin didn't lock in place, the second time i made sure it was sprung back in all the way, I was also carful not to realese the cluch veary fast but after awhile it losend up again.
It is an 831 and has the counterclockwise (looking from the back) tightening cluch.
Any help is greatly apreteated.
Thanks. Austin

Its frustrating when that happens because you really don't know whats happening. It is possible for the thread in the clutch adjustment to be worn, when you engage the PTO it puts pressure on the threads and if its worn enough can jump back a thread or two loosening the adjustment. Also the dics in the clutch pack can be worn and the seperator springs weak allowing the pressure plate to travel to far in and perhaps disagaging the lock pin. Also the spring on the lock pin can be weak. If your problem continues you will have to take it apart anyway and figure out what is at fault. Hope this helps, Rod.

I don't have an 830, but I do have an 811B that does pretty much the same thing. It's time to tear into it friend. Clutch pack is probably toast.
