Ok you Casers.
This is on a recently acquired tractor that I have no history on.
The seal around my PTO shaft is leaky. Some kind of soft rubber or cork around metal. How does it come out. I tried pulling the entire plate out but it seems to be attached to the shaft somehow. It won"t come off. Looking at the book it looks like some special tools may be required to take off the shaft, and I hate to do this just to remove this seal.
Can I remove the seal from the outside by just destroying it and then put a new one on with a ball-ping hammer? Or does it have to be installed from the inside?
Also, I notice that I can"t easily turn my pto shaft. It requires a pipe wrench to turn it with considerable ummph. I have the pto lever un-engaged. Have I got BIG problems?...slim
