Need new head studs, I suppose. Valves are in bad shape as far as angles go. They've opened and closed so many times, they have given themselves a reverse angle valve job.

Something besides OEM work? They are the A8500 LP heads.

I replace studs with bolts whenever I can. A head held with bolts is much easier to remove when the time comes. CASE switched to bolts shortly after 1960.

Hey John, I called earlier and talked to your wife about valve availability and price, from the OEM. Any alternatives to OEM?

without looking it up is the torqe spec differen't between a fine thread stud nut to a coarse bolt torque? It should be.

I'm pretty sure your right

Head studs are still available from Case. Original part number is O9756AB which subs to CAS A21058. They were $20.13 each. I'm glad I only needed one when I rebuilt my 251.

Good luck!

Doug: Good question. CASE Service Manual says "Bolts are 9/16 NF Grade 8, 145 - 150 Torque. But I never saw a NF CASE Head Bolt. The manual was printed in the 60's.
