this is one of the ones I have seen recently sounds like this machine is totaled out due to having almost a full bin when she went glad I do not have to deal with these bigger machines and repair cost cnt

I'm surprised this does'nt happen more often. Many have those huge grain tank extenions which the machine was not really designed for then hang on a big head with everything supported on wide spaced duals I bet those final drives are screaming for mercy. My 1440 went down because of a cracked rim a couple yr ago. We dug under the machine to place jacks which kept disappearing in the dirt from weight. I can't even imagine trying to get a large machine on its feet again. Rod.

Did it break the final drive housing? That's going to take a lot of cribbing blocks. Air over hydraulic jack too.

yes the housing was one of the causuality's, he said some bolt came out/broke letting the hub come out and broke the housing when it did sorry am not up on how these are built just going by what I was told cnt

here are more pics I like how they used the Magnum 3pt to lift it but had to hold the front end down with the Maxium to do it maybe you guy's that know these machines will have a better idea on the failure cnt

we broke the left wheel off our 1480. the worst part is not replacing the final drive. the wheel went up into the grain tank unloading parts. also it sprung the feeder house.

Yeah that"s a mess there........but with what you can"t see is...... the massive structure damage intrenally? I ain"t know combine expert but you gota beleive there maybe "som-en bent in side? just my 11 cents worth I hope I"am wrong! Otherwise you maybe look"en at a "parts 1680" God Bless

All too common failure on those machines. If you are a member of any other forum's like NAT you will quickly learn how many go down like that each year.

i have purchased several case ih combines from the insurance company with this problem or the frt axle broke loose from the machine. that whopper topper thats on it is too blame our case rep told us that they dont recomened a whopper topper until at 2588 they had some warrenty issues but honered their warrent to protect sales the 60 series combine is worse yet it ussually crushes the frame slowly around the rotor i have done repairs in our shop for the local dealer on these.

We used to change the bolts out on them depending on hours. Replaced with grade 8 and TORQUED to spec. Never had the pleasure of picking one up but caught a few that had bolts break or a few with cracks. I know i have seen a support rod on some of them, homeade or a kit I dont know. I am almost certain if there was duals or axle extensions on the 21-2300 series there was a support rod that ran between the two. I have not seen a final drive fail and loose a wheel but have seen lug nuts come loose or break and cause some cosmetic damage but no structural damage.
