What to look for on 1160 combine?

Going to look at the 1160 tomorrow. Anything special I need to look for specific to case combines? I'm pretty knowledgeable asout combines in general, just wondering if I need to watch for anything unique to case. Thanks

Only one thing that I know of- Make sure it ran twenty years ago when it was parked.

jon, I like to check the variable pulleys for spline wear and also brg condition this is easier o do if the belts are off but you can grab them and see if you feel movement this is the first sign to tell how the machine was serviced, also look over the elevators at the bottom and where the chains run along the bootom of the elevator as running these chains to loose will cause wear here also, check out the straw walker blocks for excessive wear as to much slack here can cause walkers to break, also check out the shoe that the sieves are hooked to as these can work the front retaining bolts and be in need of repair, also if they have handeled a lot of grain they can have the tin worn through on the grain auger tube from the bin to the elbow I have also seen them need new main auger tubes as well, next thing I keep a watch on is the raddle chain under the cylinder as these can have high wear if not adjusted properly, also Very important to keep the govener oil at the proper level, I also have a daily maintance I do to keep them in top form let me know if I can help further cnt tom

Look at the bottom side of the raddle, above the transmission, for holes in the metal. Like Cnt said, the bottom of the clean grain and return augers. Take side covers off and look at metal under the engine and hopper also.

In addition to all the specific advice. Go with your gut. I doubt you are going to use it as a main machine since its as old as it is, so if it runs good, works and looks nice, buy it!
If not, well don't become attached..

as old as it is Hmmm,, I still custom cut with my Case machines yes they do have some age on them but for my operation they work and do the jobs as well or better than a new one, I only run 500-1000 acres a year of small grains so maybe my small operation doesn't count as I have a few more than one LOL any way great advise for sure cnt
