My seats are shot!

I have a 1965 730 CK and a 1963 930 CK. The seats are shot on both. I need the whole suspension and cushion for the 730. 930 just needs the cushion for now. What are my options for the suspension? Can the cushions be redone or should I just buy a quality one, such as the replacement for an 806 IH? Thanks in advance

Not sure which year your 730 and 930 is, but the rubber springs used on most late 50's and early 60' seats are available, as are the cussions. Try John Sali, Steiner, and I believe Tisco. And of course Ebay.

Speer Cushion, and K&M both rebuild and reproduce seat cushions. Minn-Kota Repair reproduces the rubber suspension. Some parts may still be available from Case, but expect to $pay$. Bostrom and Sears were providing Case with seats back then, but I've never inquired to see if they could be any help. Beware, some of the reproduction seat cushions will not fit properly, and need modification. Stay away from anything wooden backed, go with steel parts. Ask to be sure that there is a edge protector being put on the sheet metal, or it will cut through the seat material. I had that problem with the reproduction parts. I have found that I can get a local upholstery shop to do this about as cheap as buying the parts, so try your local options too. Here are some links to their websites.

You can rebuild the suspension pretty cheap unless you need the rubber, that'll cost some money. You can make new pins out of 5/8 rod stock and the brass bushings are standard stuff you can get from a hardware store. K&M makes a good product but they make the bottom cushion thicker than they were new and they make you sit too high.

There is seat cushion and back for sale on this page in photo ads for a 930. I think like a $110.

Since the subject of seats came up I just have to say something. Ironic part is that I had a conversation with another guy about how we thought Case had the worst seat vs the seat on the Farmall and certain JD tractors. Another issue was how hard it was to climb up on a case tractor vs the older Farmalls. The DC series, 800's to me are very hard to climb off and on vs the M, H, or even the 400. So lets here more.

We had a 4430 & 4020 powershifts and 970 powershift on the farm. I would run that 970 all day every day over those jds. the seat on the jds killed my back and the console on the 970 was placed better than the 4430. over all three great tractors

Like the guys said, get your suspension parts from Minn-Kota repair. I only buy Hy-Capacity seat cushions, they are OEM quality. I have run into to many problems with other places, like JW said with the cushions being thicker, bolt holes in the wrong places etc.

DC's, even with Eagle hitch, are easier than JD or IH to get on IMHO. I have rebuilt the 930-1030 seats, and when they are new are comfortable and hard to beat. Also a 560 IH is not much easier than 800 or any tractors of that era with 3 pt. hitch to get on or off.
