2394 trany question

Looked at a 2394 today, white/black with 3 spd ps. It shifted hard from 1-2, maybe a little too hard, but from 2-3 it was very slow to shift. Maybe a 3 count from shift to lockup. Once it was in gear I couldn't make it slip at all in any gear it was just slow to shift. Is this just an adjustment thing or a slipping clutch pack or maybe an oil leak? Hyd, 3 pt, and pto work and donot affect shift at all. Clutch acts right when you push it down and works good when you let it up.

In 1st w/eng running, c1&c2 solenoids should be magnetized and able to hold a 1/4" flat washer on their ends. When shifted to 2nd, washer should drop off c2, and c3 solenoid should be instantly magnetized. U could plug gauges into c2& c3 ports and watch press swap plus swap solenoids and see if prob changes. A diag box from Case would take out all the guess work.

I have never used the special test tool from CASE but I'm sure that would remove the guess work in finding the problem. This spring I worked on one that had the hessitation in several shifts. Drove me nuts, everything hydraulicly and electricly checked out OK. In desperation I changed the relay board, problem solved. However I can not suggest to replace the board based on that occurence until the unit is tested more throughly. Hope this story did'nt add to the confusion. Rod.

I'm sorry , I assumed the tractor had the 24 sp. I do not know what the 12 sp. units have as I have never seen a 2394 equiped that way. Rod.

The 12 speeds have the shift control box. It is the same box as a 24 but, all the spots don't have wires connected.
