well guys, I am shopping for a new compuker this comming week.
The wifey is at a craft show selling her hand made jewlery and clothing.
I stole her laptop,LOL and doing a little catching up here on YT. Weather has been cool (50s) and drizzley the past few days. Yesterday we officially started the heating season, by lighting the fireplace to take the edge off.
The uncles cut some 4th cutting just in time for it to start raining. This weather sort of stalled over our area. 50m west it hadn't rained as of last night. I poped these pics. this morning in the back yard. I guess the Turkey Buzzard in the last pic smells my dead compuker HeHe

Man! I am just crazy about the red barn. What a great building. Sorry about that. Yall have a great history in farm buildings .Carry on! Chuck
 
What is the Case sitting by itself to the right in the first picture? Looks like a 530 or 630? You can probably tell what my favorite brand is but I've always liked Case too. Think they are catching on more and more around here as people are seeing the prices on the red and green ones. My Uncle has a 1370 he bought about 4 years ago. Nice tractors!

The red barn is across the road from my house, and is owned by a 92yr old WWII vet. His father built the barn. He was a small crop farmer growing aples cherries, nuts and hopps When Frank, my neighbor came home from the war, he set up shop as a welder and machinist, in the barn. Until this summer the far end of the barn still had a line shaft that ran most all of his drills metal saws and lathes. He was one of the greatest influences on my life. I am still learning things from him. He has always been a very positive person, compared to my Dad. He taught me to make things better or at least attempt to. My childhood friend and I were the only kids around that had automotive steering on our Radio Flyer wagons, LOL I still have to put some new clappboards on the far end (north) of the barn this fall. I do all his house and barn maintainance, plus my other neighbor and I mow his land that surounds us. He is showing no signs of slowing down, even though he seriously cut his hand in a table saw last fall when a loose knot poped in a board he was sawing. He makes some very beautiful clocks and the like.

That's my 430 Turbo Diesel. It will put a 550 to shame LOL. Just kidding. I have a lot of respect for Olivers and the 550/5 were nice tractors. When Oliver introduced the MFA around here none of us competive dealers stood much of a chance selling a farmer his big tillage and harvesting tractor. We as a Case dealer took on the Murhill tractors to compete. The early ones also ran the Perkins engins.

I would love to see pictures of the line shaft set up and the machine shop if your neighbor wouldn't mind. I have been a machinist for 20 years and love the old machinery. The old guys were true craftsmen. They actually had to figure all of that stuff out on their own without computers, caculators, and CNC equipment!

I wish I could take pics of it, but, as I said it was taken out this summer. Frank decided to clean out the barn. The fellow who bought the stuff is a pack rat like his father, and I doubt he will ever reassemble it, or the machines. All I can do is describe it to you. It was about 16' long, supported by several cast A frames lagged to joists. the bearings were two peice hardwood, fastened to the A frames with two bolts. For each machine there was a step pulley for a 2" wide flat belt. some machines had jackshafts bolted to the wall for furtherspeed changes or drive configurations. Power was supplied by a rather large open frame electric motor. Maybe 5HP ??
