"still", maybe more accurate! My 5000 super major while working at some minimum to moderate RPM will all of sudden go into race mode and I mean it happens fast! only solution is to shut off fuel and restart, then it is OK...and will idle down correctly. (for a while) I suspect malfunction with the Simms Minimec fuel pump (non vacuum governor type) it must be centrifugal???? and getting stuck under load I don't want to blow it up so I am looking for a good fuel injection pump re-builder around southern Vermont

any thoughts??? any recommendations?

Have you been changing the oil in the cam-box in the injection pump every 100hrs.?
That seems to be an area that is overlooked way too often. If not, drain it and install oil (same as your engine oil).

diesel tech..... i assume that it needs a rebuild?? does any one have a schematic of the Simms pump?
when it is not trying race it runs quite well.
any re-builders in northern Mass southern New Hampshire you could recommend?

after dieseltech said to change the oil, i did and found
1- it was over full(brownish looking... means water)
2- Dave at New England Injection said the centrifugal governor balls will try to float when over full messing up the intended action
3- possible broken governor spring-- easy fix

Thanks for replies, I will post results soon as I am healing a sprained ankle (clutch foot)
