fitting new wet liners

I have been told that I need to use a sealant in the
recess in the block where the liner flange seals. Is
this true as I can't find any reference to the use
of sealant anywhere on the internet. If so dies
anyone know of a brand they could reccomend. I was
told to use a brand called Coppercoat. Any advise
would be appreciated.

Hi I use ordinary kitchen silicone sealant. Use plenty in the grooves and it will help to seal against any slight porosity in that area of the block. Fordson problem (and others). Whatever you use be sure to clean off any residue on the liners and engine to avoid any getting into the oil. Mike
