i have a cracked head on my 1962 dexta. it has an 87 mm standard vangard engine. any suggestions? also is there another brand of tractor that may take the same head?please help!!!

Similar engine in petrol MF 35 or TO20. These are rare tractors, only around 4000 were ever built.

I would be grateful if you could post the casting codes, engine number and serial number so I can add them to my list of ones we have found.

I own one that started its life in New Zealand before being returned to England.

hi majorman, the casting # on the engine is FPL2109E. the head # is 30179 on the outside and P231 on inside.tractor serial # is 09B705625. i hope i can get the head repaired but dont know yet.thanks for your reply!

Thank you for the numbers, have added them to my register and will put it up on the site, www.fordsontractorpages.nl in a few days.

I am off back to Australia in September to see if I can find a few more! :0)

FWIW

If it is a Vanguard engine then it ought to be the same as Fergueson TEA 20 and MF 35 petrol engines. Not sure on the bore - I seem to recall that there were 85 and 87mm here.

And an instant hot-up kit for early Triumph TR3 type sports cars as the sleeves fitted and upped the displacement.

Any story on how that tractor fitment happened? Sounds like a gap in the tractor wars.
