[b:eafa5e66fd]The Fordson E27N Major was built at the Ford factory at Dagenham England from 1945 to 1951. 4 cylinder engine uprated from the Fordson N tractor to give 27HP, starts on gas and runs on vapourising oil. 3 F & 1 R gears.

The half track conversion was a bolt-on kit made by Roadless Traction of England. The rear frame & trailing axle bolted onto the tractor rear axle, and in theory could be removed to allow the tractor to be converted back to wheeled tractor - in practice few were swopped between tracks & wheels.

The vapourising oil engine was underpowered, Perkins developed a 6 cylinder diesel engine which were constructed in the Ford factory. And a 4 cylinder diesel engine which was available as a dealer fit. [/b:eafa5e66fd]

Hi David, that photo was taken at one of the Sotton sales and it carries a 1945 Kesteven Lincs registration number. I have a friend with an identical tractor including the slack track chains. Thanks for shering MJ
