LP Distibuter on a johndeere

anyone running a lp dist on a gas tractor ran one many years ago did not seem to make mutch diference on the dyno but it was not in good shap just wondering if anyone seem to think they helped

Talked to guy today that's pretty sharp on JD and he said they are worthless and that a MSD will not work with one.

Jim

Running 3 2 stroked and one non stroked.I have put several more on stroked tractors.I don't know about horsepower but seem easter to fine tune the timing and some say your not as apt to break a crank on a stroke tractor[can of worms]I,m sure someone will different with me

Anybody trying to tell you a LP distributer. Is either trying to sell you one, is stupid or don't know any better and should shutup

No just wondering played around years ago with one on my g saw no differance building up my a just was tossing the idea around going to take the mag off and put a distbuter on it

Nuts &bolts, you and Jim are both correct, but the new MSD boxes wont work with your Lp distrubutor. Older ones work fine. I dont know why Msd changed them but they did. Gary

I know that a regular 2 cyl dist turns at crank speed, and sparks 2 times per crank revolution, same as a typical 4 cyl, and that the lp dist turns at half speed, and only sparks half as often.

Why does the MSD care? Doesn't it simply discharge when triggered?

I don't own a MSD and haven't seen a wireing diagram to know how they hook up - just wondered how they work and why the lp dist won't trigger them?
