Looking at a 1655. However, diesel is in the oil. Thoughts?

Looking to (maybe) buy a local 1655. The unit is pretty straight. The usual leaks here and there. Good tires, good trans. However, the owner says there is diesel in the oil. Bad pump? What kind of headache am i looking at?
 
Most likely the front seal of the injection pump seeping fuel into the front geartrain. I'm sure an injection pump shop could repair that fairly inexpensively, or get a reman and trade the old one in for core. I had the same issue with my 1655 and had York Diesel in Medina, OH rebuild mine.
 
How much diesel fuel and how long did it take there? How does it start and run? I don't remember if all 1655 tractors had a lift pump or not. If it does check it first, then check the injection pump seal, Also if it starts rough you can have an injector dumping raw fuel into the pan. all problems like that are not major.
 
I repair a lot of Roosa pumps that have fuel in oil, caused by higher than normal housing pressure when the retainer ring fails and plugs the return side. Most pumps will need the brass pilot tube replaced also that the shaft seals ride in. A complete clean and reseal will repair most pumps.
 
We passed. Owner was a little too proud of it for the condition.

We made an offer, he turned it down. Thanks anyhow, guys.
 
I have a 1550 diesel that doesnot want to prime I am wandering if the pump is bad ,how much do you charge if I senf it to you. I have cracked all inj lines and cranked but very little fuel ooses out, am I doing something wrong there is fuel in the pump and everthing is bled to there. could call me 971-645-0804. Roger
