I took this off of a 1948 B.....I suspect it's a heisler although i've seen photos of johnsons and heislers but I don't recall ever seeing slotted holes?

Is this for certain a heisler?

thanks

It looks heisler to me. Slotted holes are to fit earlier heads. It looks pitted bad but should of been a part number on exhaust in the middle by where the intake meets exhaust part. I'm almost positive there were two heisler manifolds. One for 34-40 with smaller port and also the bolt holes pertruded into intake runner and 41-52. Maybe someone can correct me?

Josh Is correct. It is a Late B Heisler manifold. Used on 39 through 46 models. The previous Heisler manifold used on the 35-40 models was/looked exactly the same only difference was the exhaust flange was turned 90 degrees. DW

Thanks,

the exhaust is SO large and open i'm wondering if this manifold would work decent on a stock late B? Or wil the huge exhaust size actually do more harm than good? Obviously the intake side is substantially improved.

Remember, this IS a "HOT" Manifold, intended for "All-Fuel" use...

It will need a great deal of Port-Matching and that Inlet is not very large...

Among other things, you should want a "Cold" Manifold, for maximum power, without a tendency to Detonate..

I'll help muddy the waters a little...

I have a manifold identical to that, came on my unstyled B. I believe it is a Heisler manifold, it is a cold or gas manifold, or as cold as they came at that time. The runner is tiny, I drilled mine out. On the bottom of the intake runner, it has a pad with "UNB-1" stamped in it. Never made any sense to me as the exhaust flange is the wrong direction for an unstyled B.

Some company called "indian" also made manifolds for these, according to Duane Larson (documented), but he has no pictures of them. ..
