What would a restored 88 orchard diesel be worth? I"m thinking about buying one that needs a restoration.

well i have seen restored orchards go for over $40,000 at some auctions, so i guess it depends on the condition of the tractor. if all it needs is a paint job it would probably be alot. at the same time if the tractor is in poor shape and missing the fenders then you are buying cheap and spending alot to fix it.

I think the 40k days are over. I would say that 20-25k is closer in today"s market. I have several Oliver orchard project tractors and you cannot pay much for them in the "raw", because generally your not buying much more than a serial number tag. The sheet metal is available aftermarket but it does not fit very well so be prepared for a long long road if you want one nice. Also it is near impossible to do this kind of job for a profit. Yeah I know what you mean its a labor of love and this orchard they want 10k for but it is in good shape
