Cockshutt Puller Carb Question

Building a 3400 Hercules. Would a Stromberg 9 with a custom made intake work? Engine will be 401ci and wanting our rpm range to be around 6-6,500. Any suggestion would help. I also have a 4 barrel updraft Zenith I could use if better.

Why don't you flip the intake upside down and run a 4 barrel that intake goes both ways. Fuel injection is another option at that rpm.

Both would work, Stromberg is better though. Do you have to run an updraft? If your making a manifold anyway put a 4 barrel Holley on it if your allowed. You can get it to turn those RPM"s but it takes work, and it will be harder with the updraft.

Yeah, we have to use an updraft carb. What is the realistic rpm with the updraft? Is 6 possible? What do we have to do?

I would say a pretty stock motor, with a big updraft should run 5-5500, obviously depending on what gear your in. As far as what you can do, lots of things help, head flowed, light pistons, aftermarket rocker arms, etc. If you have other questions send me an email.
