big valve johndeere head

Beleive it or not thats what i started out on my g is up in vermont dont remember his name but you pull with him.ya there kinda slow but i have this a i do a little stone boat pulling desideing if i should build it up a little to do some sled pulling or get another tractor

Stone boat pulling is based on the stone boat that we used to drag around the fields of New England when preparing for planting. You would load the stones and boulders onto it then pull it to the side and dump it off. These days you start out with the light tractors pulling about 3-5 500lb concrete blocks on the heavy steel boat. the chain length can vary from 4 to 10 feet. So every one in turn gets hooked and gets two tries to get a full pull which can vary from 10 to 20 feet. Anyone who doesn't get a full pull gets their distance recorded and they are out. Once everyone has their try another block is added. This repeats until just one or no one gets a full pull and then on to the next weight class. You can probably see that it is a slow moving day, but it takes much more attention to detail and skill and experience than sled pulling. Track reading and balance are very important, and the biggest thing is the difficulty in getting the boat started when you are near the max for your tractor. Traction is much more important than power, and JDs usually excel.
 
Probably could cut the head for valves from an all fuel 70.
Is there port, manifold and carb flow to support the larger valves?
Put the A head and manifolds on a flow bench and try the valves as various lift heights. To find out if flow is valve limited.
Blending the rough edges out of the ports, port matching to the manifolds and a five angle valve job with back cut intake valves . These mods will improve flow.
 
I know this is goofy times ten, the thought of a multi valve JD two cylinder head. But now that I think about it there are factory built parts to help accomplish this.

The Ford 6.0 and 6.4 L. Power Stroke Diesels are 32 valve engines but they only use 16 push rods. It has 2 push rods per cylinder and 4 valves!

They use a peice between the valve stems and rocker arm to open two valves at the same time... The JD cylinder bores are so big why there must be plenty of room?

It's gotta be 5 o'clock somewhere.
