No secret in making power take a block bore it all it can be bored stroke the crank all it can to rotate in the bottom . Set your compression low if you say 8.1 if you desire then when you get beat you can always find more power with every rebuild if you raise the compression a static point every time.
 
A higher compression ratio is usually associated with higher
peak combustion pressure and more efficient use of the power
stroke due to the higher expansion ratio.
Unless of course the cam has been ground and opening the
exhaust sooner. To empty the combustion chamber sooner to
make time for more filling with a longer duration intake
event.Then the expansion ration on a 11to 1 engine maybe
similar to a short cammed 8 to 1 engine.
You can build and cam two otherwise identical engines with
the same compression pressure for example 200psi. However
one engine has a mechanical compression ratio of 8 to 1 and
the other has an 11to 1 mechanical ratio and the exact same
cam exhaust cam lobe on both engines .
Difference is the intake lobe on the cam.
The 11 to1 engine will out power the 8 to 1 engine and
operate on the same low octane fuel.
Power won't be high on the 11 to 1 engine with 200psi
compression , as it would have been with 250psi compression
. However the 200psi 11 to 1 engine walks all over the 200psi
, 8 to 1 engine. Why?
 
Static and Dynamic compression ratio are not the same . A 11.1 static with a 8.1 dynamic will always get past a 8.1 static because its dynamic will always be less than its static
 
I never seen them pull a dyno down a pulling track, About 90% spin out anyway. Maybe, just maybe, there is more to tractor pulling than who has the most horsepower.
 
Some believe that the reason they spin out is because the sled has slowed the tractor down in speed and rpms and started picking the front end up loosing hitch height and finally unloading on the wheelie bars. In that instance horsepower would have keep the ground speed , engine rpms up and sled moving .
