Debate: What brand tractor has the best advantage?

This would include; Horsepower- Weight ratio, traction, comfort, and how much does the driver reading the track make him or break him?
Why is your tractor the best in the field?
This should be interesting....

Sled pulling and field pulling don't equal.

A Allis-Chalmers with Snap Coupler using the traction booster could out plow larger tractors. On the track these same larger tractors will out do the Allis when on equal terms.

Power to weight should be a very big factor in stock or div. 1-2 type pulls and stock as-built 4 cyl. Fords have power to weight ratio 50% higher than most others. Of course what really matters is ease of building to much higher power. Track reading is of course very important. I have seen and also made blunders that resulted in losses in excess of 50 feet.

In stock form Allis WD/45. When it comes to modified pulling the ole Oliver 77 with a 310/320 down around 3500lbs would be a hard power to weight ratio to beat. But I like to take the road less traveled.

you could open up a can of works here 101... you didnt mention if you wanted to know whats best, by means of aftermarket billet counterweighted cranks for engines, vs old school welded cranks. technology is what ever the dollar will buy you. Thats unfortunate that this sport is going to big money to play fair, its not fair at all. my vote goes to 2 chassis, lay all the motors aside, but chassis to chassis I give the allis chalmers WC-WD45, and oliver 66-880 chassis to be very, very competitive bout anywhere when real pulling science is applied. now, define science n thatll open up pandoras box.

The brand with the most cubic dollars poured into it. We all know there is no such thing as a stock antique puller. Just go out and hook what you got to the sled and have fun. Show up at a pull with friends and leave with friends.

It hurts to say this but. A IH 460, Put a 301 in it from a combine and you are set. Then if you want to go faster and heavier. 501 truck motor, the sky is the limit.

Thats if you dont beat them on the track.Had lots of friends at pulls then built that tractor up and started beating them and then by by friends

The answer varies for speed limit or open, but MM is best horsepower per dollar. They have some great weight saving and gearing tricks. AC has darn good chassis and a simple tough engine for lighter classes. Olivers have pretty good power to weight bone stock. It's hard to beat an H or M Farmall for comfort. Deere kinda ranks low on all fronts unless you love them and are willing to put in the extra effort.

In pure pure stock form, I give the advantage to super 88 oliver, or massey 44. Both have good power to weight ratio, good chasis, and good tires.

In a stock block and head by part number, I give the advantage to farmall super m. You can get a lot of cubes and power from a factory sm block and head.

If mixing and interchanging engines is allowed, I give the advantage to an oliver 77 with a 310, a mini ub with a 403, or a mini gvi with a 605 or 800.

Im an oliver/ moline guy but if you want to run light those little ford row crop tractors are mean little farts!
