Late JD A vs. JD 60

I was told that a late jd a motor is the same as a jd 60. cam..crank..block...head..etc?? Not real sure but would like to see if anyone had a good answer for me??

Well..the Bore and Stroke are the same....and the very first All-Fuel 60's may have still had the single throat carburetor on them...

same bore and stroke..pistons interchange..you csn put a 60 hd on a late a ..60 block will fit in an a but a block doesnt have holes on the bottom that go thru frame like 60

I beleve what buickanddeere meant to say was no a late A and a 60 arent the same. Im not a deere guy but as i recall the 60 runs a duplex carb, and the block and pistons are shorter unless mabie you have an all fuel tractor,(mabie thats only on the 70) and the heads are a diffrent monkey also. I think the stroke is the same unless you have an unstyled A. Im sure if im wrong some one will corect me or atleast call me an idot!

A and 60 had the same stroke but the 60's crank was updated for live pto.
All 60's used insert connecting rods. The A's were babbit.
The late 60's had a much high output generator.
The A and 60 heads all used the same bolt patten but the gasser 60, LP's and late all fuels after serial # 6013899 used duplex intake ports and carb.
The duplex engines made more power on less fuel.
The single barrel A's and the early all fuel 60. One cylinder ran too rich while the other cylinder ran too lean.
The 60's used a powered crankcase ventilator pump. A's didn't use a pump until serial # 692121.
The gasser A was 5.6 to 1 compression and used a 2-1/4" intake and 2-1/32 exhaust.
The gasser 60 compression was 6.08 to 1 and used 2-1/4" intakes and surprisingly only 1.900 exhaust valves.
Cam timing was identical on the A and 60.
The 60's used a much superior thermostat coolant temp control.
The styled A and the 60 cylinder blocks were for all intents and purposes identical.
For pulling it's easier to lighten the A into the 5500lb class than a 60.
The 60 is still makes a useful odd jobs tractor around any farm with live hydraulics,optional live pto and optional power steering.
There is even a Saginaw top link to give a 60 a real and complete three point hitch.
Kind of a shame to cut up a 60 into an all out puller.
