14.9x38 tires on 16 inch rim?

I have a 1951 GW I am restoring and it has had the rims widened to 16 inches. Im looking to put tires on it and I would like to go to a taller tire then what I have. It has 16 inch rims on it and a 15.5x38 id like to go to a 14.9x38 will that fit on the rim? I think a 16.9 will look to big on the tractor. Also if anyone who is pulling an A or G and has a set of stock rims and is intereted in widened rims i would be intereted in doing some trading. They are in good shape. I do not plan to pull this as i have another G so I would like it to be stock... Email is open.

A 16" rim is way to wide for a 14.9 or 15.5. Even for a pulling tractor. Millers recommends a rim width the same size as the tire for pulling. The problem is the wider the rim, the weaker the sidewalls. Sidewall strength is very important. You would want at most a 14" rim for either one.

we have had better luck with 14.9's on 12 inch than on 14. 16 inch is way to wide for an antique.

I think I need to find a stock set of rims and swap them out. Like I said I have a G pulling tractor and i run 16.9 on pressed wheels and they look big on it.. this tractor is getting re-done for our collection and I dont want it to look like that. Anyone need a set of 16 inch rims?

I wouldnt want a 15.5 on anything else but a 16" rim!

ive got a brand new set of 13.6x38 on new wheels on my usg iam putting bigger tires on it..i want to sell123.6s on wheels or i would trade for wider rims with good tires
