Curious how well would a JD MC do

JD MC, crawler version of the M, 4000 lbs. How well would it do in class?
Anyone seen how well crawlers do compared to wheeled in a tractor pull?
All this would be just for fun.
 
If they're both completely stock with stock motor, drawbar, and factory ruber on the wheeled tractor, then the crawler should win. If the wheeled tractor is a purpose built, souped up "pulling tractor", then the crawler will likely lose.
 

I have seen crawlers try to hook maybe twice. They could not compete with rubber either time.
 
Yep, too much traction and not enough horsepower. It takes a crawler a lot more effort to move than a wheel tractor.
 
the point of contact to the ground is higher with a track machine as it is being dispersed throughout the length of the tracks; so to me it only makes sense that you are also "spreading" the power that the tractor produces over a larger surface area, where as a wheeled tractor utilizes all of the power at a smaller point of contact to the pulling track.

plus, I have seen a few of them pull and they don't do well at all and as gordey said, they ruin the track in the process.
 
Just think of tracks and remember they have less ground pressure per square inch. That's why huge grain carts have them. Spread weight and less bite on track.
 
We have 2 to 3 crawlers pull at or pulls. They have their own class to pull against each other. We do percentage pulls and the average out pretty close with the tractors. The sled is geared slower for them.
 
From my experience running a 40C you will pull around in a circle to the right! Tend to have more traction on the left side due to the offset.
