Need to replace the leaky hoses and couplers on my Oliver 1850. Planning to use the pioneer connect under pressure couplers. Question is on the hoses. Right now it has short ones about 12" long. I looked in the parts book online and best I could tell it shows a 57" hose coming out of the fittings on the hydraulic unit. Does anyone know what came on these new? Or whats the best setup? Only bad thing on the short hoses now is that its hard to get the ends of couplers to be same length to fit into the bracket that holds the couplers. Would like it to be close or original but obviously function too! Thanks.

When I did my 1600 I used 18 or 24" hoses, and looped them towards the front and then back to the remotes. I originally put shorter hoses on the left side but I couldn't couple anything because I couldn't push anything into them. I later redid it and I have no problems now.
Right or not, function comes before "proper" in some cases.

The new tractors did not have the hoses and couplers installed at the factory. The outlets had plugs installed. The hoses and couplers came in a box as a package. I probably installed 50 of them when I worked for a dealer some 50 years ago, don"t remember the length of the hoses. Perhaps the original selling dealer made up his own plumbing.

you'll like the pioneer under pressure couplers. With that style you pull the outer release shield to install or remove couplers. can push, but pulling is easiest when there pressure on line, and it helps pull the 2 couplers together by pulling towards one another , and releasing out shell helps pull them together also.
Thanks for the interesting comments. Didn't realize thats how the factory shipped them. While we are on the subject, have always been curious as I see this style of coupler bracket on some Olivers but not all. Was this standard equipment or an option some dealers used or only on certain models.

They were an option for a few years. Also remember another reason you find the longer hoses is that they could be positioned forward for front mounted implements like drive in cultivators. For a few years on the 50 series they had an optional coupler that would couple under pressure. If I remember right they were an Areoquip manufactured coupler. I can think of at least 3 different couplers used on the 50 series.
