This past fall while my brother was plowing something happened to the engine in my 1850. When I returned to the farm I noticed he parked it in the shed with the plow raised, so I went in and started the tractor to lower the plow and immediately noticed the engine had a miss. Regardless of what went wrong I'm thinking it's time to do a complete overhaul (~5000 hrs.)
My question is should I perform a complete overhaul on the engine I have? or figure out what failed and just replace the parts I need. I've read on here it's popular to swap in an engine out of a combine, for the right price I would consider that also.
engine no. stamped by fuel pump - 354U64443
tractor ser. no. - 205-925-557
model no. - 385-22582
I really like this tractor so one way or another it will farm again.
Thank you
