i have the outside flange off and the nut on the inside off.cant seem to be able to remove the axle to get the bull gear out,is the axle held in by something else too....

My manual says to loosen the bolts on the bearing cap and bump the wheel flange outward with a heavy bar. Then take the bolts out and continue bumping till the shaft comes out. The splines in the bull gear may be stuck, too.

Hey Phil,

Maybe you can explain this. On my E-4, one axle housing has the grease fitting up and the other is down. It looks like one was installed upside down with no place to bolt the foot plate. I've seen lots of them at shows and they are all that way. Did they originally come this way?

Hi Mike,

The SAME axle housing trumpet....TG-9426 (early 40-50 with fixed std. axle) is used on either side. This is the way Cockshutt built most of their tractors.....35-40-50-GA-540-550-560-570-570S

The "30" tractor does have DIFFERENT trumpets on each side.

Phil

Thanks, Phil

I could see that both trumpets were the same part. I always fiured somebody worked on it and put it back together wrong. It looks like it would fit either way. And that cutout at the trumpet end looks like it could be clearance for some sort of mounted equipment.
