Best head for gas 88 puller

What is the best head to use for an 88 gas puller? I've heard the 1650 and 99 heads are better, but will they bolt up and match the coolant ports of the 88 block? Using a 310 or any other non-original block is not an option. This will be a ~400 cu in 3000 RPM engine running on 110 octane. Any help is appreciated. Thanks.

When we pulled Oliver we ran a late 1650-1655 head. It had the Canted {spelling?} valves. We were at 440 ci. We put in bigger valves-don't remember how big-ran good! Good luck.

rp1555,
Where are you located? Also, do you have the manifolds for the 99 head or know where I could find some?
Thanks.
