4 210 red stripe

I found a pretty clean looking 4-210 recently and was wondering what you guys think of them and your experiences with them.I have run the "the other green" before but never a white articulated. How well do they turn, how is the fuel consumption,is the red stripe cab a little nicer than the silver 4-210's,any thing to check out? it has alot of hours on it but the engine has new bearings, new fuel system, good tires and duals and we are only covering a couple hundred acres at most.asking price is reasonable, thanks for any input

I'm not sure of any similarities except for the 3208 engine on my 4-180. The only thing I didn't like was the 2 speed. Tractor had to be stopped to shift it. I put a complete exhaust system on mine and spent around $1800 bucks on it. I really liked the pulling power and traction. 11 shank glencoe soil saver and an IH 24.5' disc, pulled them both with ease.

the 4-210 is different in the hinge point was beefed up 33%. it also has the white 3-speed power shift and inboard planitarys instead of outboard.Motor and hp was the same, just the 4-180 was pto hp, the 4-210 was engine hp. the rear ends were the same as the 2-135-155, i believe instead of the 2-150 type in the 4-180

have both 4-150 and 4-210 the weak link is the cat motor. they can run good but still use oil. the 4-150 now uses a quart an hour. the 4-210 did the same and i replaced the motor. the 4-150 is getting a 5.9 cummins, the 4-210 eventually will get a 8.3 cummins

Red stripe and gray stripe cab are the same, ran a 4-210 for a long time ,good tractor agree that the 3208 is the weak part. Always would run out of power before we ever ran out of traction.

well we farm with a 4-210 and do quite a bit with it. we pull an 11 shank disc chisel, 38ft cultivator and a 24ft disc. it can make a pretty tight turn, maybe as tight as todays models. it has around a hundred gallon fuel tank, i don't really know how long it would last but theres a reason its called a thirsty cat, but it could be around 6 gallons an hour? personally i think the red stripe whites standout alot nice than the silver striped ones. i would say check the central articulation, i doubt there would be a problem there but it doesn't hurt. and make sure the hydraulics are good, since that is what you would be using the most.

It is a very fine tractor that is almost bullet proof. Very easy to work on compared to JD or Case and believe it not has more axle clearance then the others including Steigers. Also do not be afraid of the 3208 most of the ytime nobody ever tuned them up. If you buy it the first thing you should do is set the valves and put in a new diaphragm in the pvc valve( that is the main area of oil consumption) and for power it is real easy to adjust. With moderate maintenance they were good for 10,000 plus hrs.

thanks for all the feedback,it sounds like it will do the job for us.I will surely post some pics if it comes home with us!

Great tractor, dad used to have one pulled a 10 bottom plow, never had any major problems on over 5000 hrs we had it.
