Mint green

I've been working on a 59 Oliver 770 and am wondering if I should paint it Mint green. I know it's my tractor and can do what I want and there were no 770's painted Mint green. Just wondering

some oliver guys might complain, we went to a show and an out of town oliver guy was mad that we put a roosamaster in a fleetline 88. yet if you want to look different thats fine.
P.S. a mint green oliver would really be different considering the 880 was mist green.

Shes yers so do what you want. I always thought the mist green 880s looked kinda cool. Dont think I would have wanted them all painted that way but they sure stand out in a lineup. I say go for it. Oliver doesnt have nearly as many correct police as the other color green.

With the amount of time, effort and money I would go correct. But like the others said its yours do what you like and be ready for a lot of questions.

I think a 770 mist green would certainly be a standout for discussion , but as others have stated , to be correct only the 880 was produced with mist green, and less than 200 of those. For history's sake, I personally would never paint any other Oliver mist green , just my opinion , as it is your 770.

Marty, Couple of questions: First, what year is your 770? It matters simply because if you are pre-honeycomb grille/hood decal panels on 1962 and later, the mist green will be chomatic conflict on the clover white panels. Second, is your 770 wfe or narrow? This matters on the color keyed cast center hubs of the wide front ends. The only two photos I have ever seen of the mist green paint on 880's were on narrow front end tractors and I have to tell you they grabbed your full attention. The Oliver decals are what really made those paint schemes look premier! If you go mist, you will be busted by all the restored Olvier guys because your tractor is a 770. It will look like the Trans-Am hood decal on a Grand Prix Pontiac, the notion will be novelty at first but remember, when your ice melts, the lemonade is watered down. I fully restored a 1960 880 wfe this past summer and I had two Oliver guys (one was my brother) scream at me to go mist green. I went authentic and was glad in the end. Stay true, be happy.

I have an old car that is not restored authentically (someone else did it, I just bought it), and I do get tired of having that pointed out repeatedly (and heatedly, sometimes) from the purists. I guess if it were me, I'd do it in the correct color.
