super 77 governor

hi all, been sorting out a bunch of issues with this super 77 I recently got. have most issues worked out now but a new recent problem just showed up. After changing the oil, I moved the tractor out of the shop, everything was fine. Went back 15 minutes later to bring it back in and when i started it back up the engine revs went thru the roof with the hand throttle in like the 3 or 4th notch is all, tried to change positions and the engine speed would not come down. got it back inside and also noticed it seemed hard now to get the hand throttle to the fully closed or all the way up position, like it had resistance againist it. Couldnt see any visible linkage problems being bent or broken, so I unhooked the rod from the front governor lever to the carb and with the throttle closed at the hand control(up) the governor linkage is well past the arm coming off the carb, like a 1/4" past so basically if i hook it back up, with the throttle closed on the lever it wants to hold the butterfly in the carb well up off the idle adj screw, almost 1/2". I assmumed something in the governor is now gone wrong, so I loosened the bump screw lock nut and backed the screw almost all the way out and the governor lever never released at all! so I havent been into these before but I assume the governor has to come apart?? just for info the carb was never touched and I checked the high speed adjustment as well as idle mixture screws and they are right on factory spec so should be close enough not to be inducing a problem and also it runs fine if you take the governor out of the equation and just move the butterfly by hand. Any ideas?

Take the air cleaner and then the governor housing off. Then pull the weight assembly out. I think the problem will be very aparent when you pull it out.

ok I will try that thanks. where is a good source for parts if I need any? Am I correct in assuming that the arm should have returned all the way once the bump screw was backed out?
