310 in a 88

hi fellas, i was just wondering what some of you lads did when you put a 310 in an 88, regarding the oil pump. it looks as if it will stick to far out for the sheetmetal to cover, and i want it to look original from the outside. any help? thanks

If your talking about the oil filter then I assume you still have the canister filter. I don't really know on an 88, but with a 77 I have used one of these bases like in the picture above. With these you are able to use a screw on filter or use a sandwhich adapter with a 3/4-16" thread to relocate the filter somewhere else. Also some have just drilled a flat plate for the inlet/outlet and bolted to the block then plumbing it to a remote filter. Just my 2 cents.........

mmkid, I had no trouble closing the side covers on my 77 when i had a 310 in it a few years ago. chuck
