my dad's 60 cockshutt tractor

My dad wanted to restore an old cockshutt tractor but passed before he could do much with it. I am wondering what I should do with it. It is a "Model 60". It is in fair to poor condition to me. It ran well 15 years ago. Does anyone have any advice on what it might be worth and what to do with it? Is it worth restoring? It is located in Minnesota now.
 
well it was your dads so it may have sentimental value to you and it would be something way cool to pass on to your kids. are you able to do a bit of work to it and see if it will start up? is it a gasoline or diesel model? can you remove the spark plugs (one at a time so they dont get mixed up) and shoot some penitrating oil down the cylenders (acatone and auto transmission fluid) check the fluids out oil & antifreeze add some fresh fuel and a battery and see if the old girl will fire up. lots of times the carb gets gummed up with the old gas that has dried out.it could take a bit of messing around but its not too hard to work on the older tractors the best friend you have is your tech manual get one for your rig it will tell you all you ned to know
 
I will try to take a picture of it today. I know I have the "grill", just not at my house. I think the gauges aren't original. I will see what I can do for pics.
 
I like the idea of keeping it and it being a "project" for us one day, I must confess, but is worth the work... Would someone else give it more "love" than us? Thanks for the advice, I do appreciate it!
 
If you mean will the tractor be worth the cost of restoring it, probably not. Cockshutt 60 is a re-badged Oliver 60, and the demand is not particularly great for that model. So it needs to be a "labor of love".
 
the way a lot of projects like this go is just do one thing at a time ,fix a light here and then fix a gauge there spread it out over time ,and dont be in a huge rush and little by little things will come together
 
hi, sounds like you dont have time for restoring the 60, give me a call ,tim 715-643-2411, even once you get it restored and dont have a use for it, it will start leaking oil then a tire will start going flat and so on...thanks tim
