super 44 brakes

Has anyone ever changed brake shoes on a super 44. The right side came off with no problem. Left side shoes will not withdraw from top of axle frame as discribed in shop manual.The shoe frame where the bottom pull rod connects to is to large to allow shoes to come up out of the axle frame.The left side frame has a built in bolt channel that the right side does not have.This channel does not allow enough clearence for the shoe to slide out around the drum.Any help would be appreciated.

My dad just did brakes on his 44 he had the same problem. Call me 717 259-5959.

Thanks Joe for the information. Kinda thought that I had to take the axle off after looking at it. Not looking foward to having to do that, but it is what it is. Did injoy talking to your dad.
