190 xt

I have spent a ton of time around WD45's but mainly use green ones... The other day I came across a 190xt LP gas that I am very interested in and I would like some more info on them as far as the good and bad. I am mostly interested in it because of the size and because it is an LP Does anyone know how many LP gassers were made??

Can not tell you how many where made but I can say this. The early ones had big problems with the transmission and they loved to pop out of gear. I had a diesel 190XT years ago. I liked it because it was cheap to run for its size but was way to big a tractor for my 44 acres at a tad bit under 100HP

The only problem with them was if they had ever done much heavy pulling they will jump out of 3rd gear. Very costly to fix.

Series 2 xt,s had the best transmissions- 68-71 , Series 3 are terrible gear jumpers all caused by bad engineering on AC part ; it cost about 2500 to completely redo one

I've been using my brother's 1970 190XT Series III for years pulling a chisel plow and as a planting tractor and pulling baler with zero transmission or engine problems other than bacteria in the fuel tank. It needs some brake work right now. Dad has a gasser XT that had a rear axle bearing go out. It was a 65' early model that hadn't been updated to the heavy axles that the 66' on up had. The series III is my favorite tractor to drive. Great tractor.

A lot of the transmission problems are caused by people trying to shift on the fly which is bad for tractor transmissions. My self I hated the hyd steering they had since you loose engine you loose steering and in my area you best jump if that happens. That said I did like the one I had but way over kill for 44 acres when your lucky if you can do any thing with more then half that due to hills and trees

I have one, the issues are documented. The positive side is it is a lot of tractor for the money.

There are rumors circulating AGCO is going to stop supporting Allis Chalmers tractors from a parts standpoint. This is rumor only. The fast moving parts are avail. aftermarket and you can always work salvage yards.

Depends on how many acres you farm. We use ours as a yard tractor. Works fine.
