I have an Allis Model "C" that has had the distributor conversion and has postive ground along with an external solenoid. Recently had the starter redone and needed a new solenoid. Also a new battery. I am notgetting any connection or stater activity. What am I missing? I put the cables back as they had come off. Cables are almost new also. Thank you guys for your help

I agree on making sure you have clean tight connection.

By chance did you get the wrong solenoid? Some are internally grounded to the case and activate by applying voltage to the small terminal. Others connect internally to hot battery connection and activate by grounding the small terminal. The cases can look identical at a quick glance.

test starter with jump cables.

i've had a starter rebuilt and the shop painted the thing so heavilly that it would not ground when mounted. i had to take it off and buff on it alot to get it to hit.

if it's not that. do chek the solenoid as mentioned..

Don't forget! the starter grounds to the engine thru the beveled mounting bolt! you must have good ground there!

No starter activity? does the starter work off the tractor? Maybe they placed a gear on your starter that turns the opposite way making it not wanting to turn when it is in position but will work off the tractor.
