How do u change the rear PTo seal on a 7045? My friends
tractor started leaking this fall, it is dripping oil when not in use.
Todd. Thanks

Chances are it is a 2 speed, 540/1000. You will have to drain rear end oil, remove plate on underside of PTO, and this will expose shaft and gears. These will have to be removed to replace the seal. It needs to be set back up to proper pre-load on bearings. Kind of tricky reinstalling gears and setting up.

This is my first year farming, I'm using my fathers equipment and the same thing happened on the 7045 im using. I have managed to pull the lock pin out of the nut on the shaft holding the gears in place but I can seem to get the barring off the end of the shaft in order to slide the shaft out. Does that barring just need to be driven off the shaft or is there a snap ring I'm just not seeing in place somewhere? Ive tried looking all over it with mirrors and I have the parts diagram but i'm afraid of braking something. Please Help!!!
