Restoreing a '48. All back together and almost ready for paint. BUT, can't get it running. No fire to the spark plugs. New coil (6-volt) and new condenser. Any suggestions???

If the points are brand new turn the engine until they are closed and pull dollar bill between them. If yo don't have a dollar borrow afive from someone. Seriously, sometimes brand new points will have an oxide or coating that will not let them make good contact. The rice paper in our money is just abrasive enough to remove it. Also check all of your connections with a voltmeter. Just a thought.

make sure the lead or its terminal is not grounding to the dist housing.... hard to notice, but has happened before.

yep.. SOP

check power to coil.. put a test lamp in line and open and close points.. should blink.

roll engine over with clamp on ground and probe to cond wire.. lamp should blink.

if no lamp.. no power... if lamp stays on.. it's shorted at the points, condensor or feed thur wire from primary of coil.

Check your headlight/on switch. Those old ones go bad and you will just need a new aftermarket one. All other comments I have read are also valid to look at.
