G Carburetor

I recently put a new clutch in my 1952 G. While it was apart I decided that maybe it was time to rebuild the carburetor. I have regretted that decision ever since. So far I have sent it to two rebuild shops and it still does the same thing. After I put the carb back on, the tractor starts right up with no signs of problems. The next morning there is gas all over the floor. I cannot tell where it is leaking from but when the air intake is removed from the bottom, it is full of gas. I do not know what to do next. Any ideas would be appreciated. I don"t have much hair left. Thanks

Shut the gas off when you stop the engine.
I do that because a 4 bucks a gallon I cant trust them.
I hate those rubber tipped float valve needles. When they work they work when they don't they don't. Two in a row is strange. I don't have a fix except keep trying more different needles.

I had not shut the gas off my Farmall C all summer without a leak problem. Went out last evening to use it and the tank was empty and the grass was dead under the carburetor where it had leaked.

I don't know what kind of needle valve the guys that rebuilt it used. I guess I'll have to take it apart and look. My Dad bought this tractor new in 1952. To my knowledge he never had a carburetor problem. This nightmare has taught me a good lesson. If the engine runs good and the carburetor don't leak, leave it alone!!!

I've learned the same lesson on fixing carbs that are not broke! I don't like the new "improved" needles with the neoprene tips either. If you still have the old all steel needle replace it. I have had some some success lightly coating the end of the needle with valve lapping compound & lightly hand lapping it into the seat. I ALWAYS shut the gas off when my tractors are not running, as you never know when one will decided to leak! Kip

obviously the inlet needle is not sealing to the seat.. or the seat is loose and leaks.. .. or the flaot is hung up or heavy and not forcing the needle to the seat.

if it runs fine but only slowly leaks after setting.. i'd put a fuel shut off valve in line with it after one more attempt to rebuild it MYSELF

Yesterday afternoon I took it apart again. Everything looked good but I adjusted the little wire that helps pull the needle out when the gas in the bowl goes down. I left the air inlet tube off so I could easily tell if it leaked during the night. This morning there was a maybe several drips on the floor. Not a flood like before. I am going to call it good and use it as is. I also plan to shut the gas off after use as you and others have suggested. Thanks
